Haverhill gc project update (31st March 2019)


Completed Projects

1st Hole remodelling 

The pond between the fairway bunker and the 

18th Bridge has been contoured into the surroundings.

This is as far as we will go until a new priority list has been agreed

Completion date: Dec 2018

Costs: None apart from labour costs

Ongoing projects

Ladies 17th Tee

Relocate in front of men’s tee

Start date: Winter 2019

Estimated completion date: Winter 2019

Estimated costs: £500

Funding source: Course maintenance

Progress: Tree Safety Survey requires the Willow obstructing the tee shot to be Pollarded.

Outcome: Agreed at main committee that new tee will no longer be required 

Seniors Benches 

The Seniors have purchased 6 benches for the Course. Positions proposed and to be agreed 

with GN. 

Funding source: Seniors

Progress: In storage, awaiting plans to install. May be some additional cost for Paving slabs to place them on.

Tee markers 

Tee Markers installed and surrounding areas landscaped. Waste bins and ball washers to be completed.

Funding source: Contingency pot

Progress:  More waste bins needed and lids.  Ball washers to be repainted

8th Green-side bunkers 

To revet the faces of the bunkers using artificial turf 

Start date: March 2019

Estimated completion date: April 2019

Funding source: Course maintenance

Progress:  Front left bunker revet work complete.  Right side now in progress.

Members Bar

To convert the meeting room into a Members bar and terrace above Restaurant.

Start date: April 2019

Estimated completion date: June 2020

Estimated costs:  £40k - £50k

Funding source: 2019/20 budget £10K. Other funding being sought.

Progress: Phase 1 Terrace work – stairs.  Phase 2 Patio door access to terrace

New 8th Tee 

Creation of new competition tee 

Estimated completion date: Spring 2020

Estimated costs: £500

Funding source:  Course maintenance 

Progress: Ongoing.  Building up tee level as soil becomes available.

New Projects

Replace Cladding on front of Clubhouse

Existing wooden cladding is in poor repair, it could be repaired and redecorated or replaced. 

Funding source: Maintenance

Progress:  Quotes being obtained 

Irrigation System 

The system has been in need of updating for many years and last summer has highlighted its limitations. 

A new system would enhance reliability, enable the greens fringes, approaches and tees to be watered and improve playability.

New path 

New Path across the top of the putting green to first tee and closure of route behind clubhouse

Swing Studio 

To enhance our teaching and club fitting offering a swing studio in the vicinity of the Pro shop is proposed.
